We're Home!

Baby Ethan came home today. As most of you know, a big (for around here) snow storm hit the night he was born. We got five inches of snow followed by freezing rain throughout the night. Roads were a little treacherous but we made it home safe.

We’re so glad to be home. Brooke and Ethan are both doing really well. He’s doing what babies do best; eating, sleeping, and pooping! Parker did great with Uncle Chad and Grammy & Big Poppa while we were in the hospital. But he was certainly glad to see us drive up today. He’s interested in Ethan but only in short bursts. Mostly he just ignores the baby. We’ll see over the next weeks how he adjusts. Here are some of our pictures from the last two days…

Ethan’s first photos.

When they laid him under the heat lamp he stretched out and loved it.
He’s shaped a lot like Parker.

Then someone told him the Chargers were out of the playoffs…

They always hate the first bath!

Grammy and Big Poppa were happy.

They brought Parker by to visit his new baby brother on Saturday.
Here’s the first kiss from big brother Parker.

Johnathan and Jessie live close by and were able to make it through the snow.

Finally on Sunday, we bundled up and headed home. This is the same car seat we brought Parker home in. Get used to hand-me-downs kid!

We made it home in time for me to take Parker out and play in the snow. It was a nice afternoon and some neighborhood kids were sledding down a hill behind the house. So Parker got his first taste of winter sports. We went down about a half dozen times and he just wanted to go faster.

Not to leave the dogs out, Roxy and Mr. Willis love the snow.
Here’s Roxy patrolling the fence.

The snow is fun but unfortunately it has kept most of our family from seeing the new baby. Hopefully, it will continue to melt and Ethan looks forward to seeing everyone real soon!

Happy New Year - 2010!

Well we got through the holidays and now we’re ready for the New Year. Christmas was really fun this year with a two year old who could kind-of understand what was going on. He vaguely comprehended that someone called "Santa Clause" was going to bring him toys. Of which, the most highly anticipated was the “Football Hat!”

Go Chargers!

Earlier in the month, Parker helped pick out a tree.

He let Santa know what kind of loot he expected.

And he learned that the holidays are a time to put funny outfits on kids and pets.

We took Parker to see his first Christmas parade. He and his friends had front row seats.

He got to see Santa again but didn’t get a chance to update the wish list.

It hadn't really changed since the last time they saw each other.

We also had a big arrival before Christmas! Parker’s first cousin, Baby Tori, was born to my sister and her husband. We’re happy to report that mommy and baby are both doing just fine. We took Parker to see her soon after they came home. In fact, we were Tori’s first visitors. She is so adorable.

Greg and Jill are adjusting well to new-parenthood. Visiting them reminds us of how our lives were not so long ago and we can’t believe we’re about to have another little baby in the house. Parker doesn’t quite get it. He can tell you that there is a baby in Mommy’s belly but he pretty much ignores other infants and I don’t think he knows what’s coming. I guess he’ll find out soon enough!

On Christmas Eve, we had both sides of the family over at our house. It was great to have everyone together at once. Anna and Parker posed by the tree while little Tori caught up on her sleep.

Anna also showed Parker how to track Santa online.

Later, Roxy showed Parker how to look for Santa the old fashioned way.

Actually, Roxy was looking for Reindeer!

New Baby Update: We are very near the due date and it really could come anytime. Parker was 2 weeks early and we are within that window now. Brooke is experiencing strong Braxton-Hicks contractions almost daily. Sometimes they are quite severe. We’ve got bags packed and contingency plans in place. I’ll try to update soon after new baby arrives. Stay tuned!

We’ll end for now with some old cell phone images I found of me and Parker. These were taken back when we lived in Burlington (circa Fall 2008). That shirt is much too small for him now but, for a while, it was fun to go out dressed alike (kind-of).

I call him “Mini-Me!”
